Semi Hits Camper Near Alton

Alton, Iowa — A camper and semi tractor were damaged after they collided north of Alton on Monday, November 13th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 5:45 pm on Monday, 45-year-old Mark Stevens of Carrollton, Georgia was driving a 2008 Ford pickup pulling a 2006 Keystone campter southbound in the right lane of Highway 60, three miles north of Alton. Fifty-three-year-old Duane Magnussen of Newell was driving a 2011 Peterbilt semi-tractor pulling a livestock trailer loaded with cattle southbound in the left lane of Highway 60. According to the report, Stevens attempted to turn left onto 430th street from the right lane and the Peterbilt struck the camper.

The camper received $15,000 damage. The Peterbilt received $20,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

Stevens was cited with a charge for improper use of lanes.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hospers Fire Department
