Sheldon Man Arrested For Pursuit & Sioux County Felony Warrant

O’Brien County, Iowa — A Sheldon man was arrested early Tuesday evening after leading an O’Brien County deputy on a pursuit.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, one of their deputies attempted to stop a white 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse near 320th Street and Starling Avenue, or about three miles east of Sanborn. According to the report the vehicle refused to stop and the deputy followed in pursuit. Deputies say the driver drove into a pasture near 2895 Tyler Avenue, and fled on foot. Authorities say the deputy pursued on foot, and apprehended the driver, who authorities identify as 27-year old Zachary Eon Buckwald of Sheldon.

Deputies say Buckwald was arrested and charged with:

Operating a non-registered vehicle (expired plates), a Simple Misdemeanor
Fraudulent use of registration, a Simple Misdemeanor
Driving While License is Suspended, (No SR insurance), a Simple Misdemeanor
Driving While License is Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor
Stop Sign violation, a Simple Misdemeanor
Speeding, a Simple Misdemeanor
Eluding, an Aggravated Misdemeanor
Failure to have Ignition Interlock when required, a Simple Misdemeanor
Reckless Driving, a Simple Misdemeanor

In addition, authorities say Buckwald was also arrested on a warrant from Sioux County for Contempt of Court, on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility, which is a Class D Felony. Buckwald is reportedly being held in the O’Brien County Jail on a $2-thousand cash or surety bond for charges stemming from Tuesday evening’s pursuit, and on an additional $5-thousand bond on the Sioux County charge, for a total bond of $7-thousand.
