Sheldon Police Kept Busy With Vandalisms, Accident

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon police are investigating a pair of criminal mischief incidents that happened within the last few days.

Police say that sometime between midnight Sunday night, and midnight Monday, damage was done to the men’s and women’s restrooms at the Sheldon City Park. Authorities say a bathroom stall door and a plastic changing table were damaged. Damage was estimated at $4-hundred.

Tuesday morning a resident on South 3rd Avenue reported to police that someone had written something on the side of his house. Damage to the house’s siding is estimated at $250.

No injuries were reported in a 2-vehicle crash that happened over the noon hour Monday.

Sheldon police say the mishap ocurred when a wesbound 2009 Ford F350 truck was heading westbound on Highway 18. Police say the truck, driven by 27-year old Austin Fischer of Orange City, stopped at the intersection with Western Avenue to wait for traffic so he could make a left turn onto Western Avenue. According to the report, another westbound vehicle, a 2013 Subaru Impreza, driven by 21-year old Paige McDougall of Le Mars, struck the back of the Fischer truck.

No injuries were reported.  Damage to Fischer’s truck was estimated at $2-hundred, while McDougall’s Subaru sustained an estimate3d $35-hundred dollars in damage.

Authorities say McDougall was cited for Failure To Have Control.
