Sioux City Woman Arrested After Traffic Crash

Hospers, Iowa — A two-vehicle collision led to the arrest of a 40-year old Sioux City woman early Saturday morning.

According to Sioux County authorities the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 60 and 400th Street about 2:15 Saturday morning, when a 2015 Kia Forte, driven by 28-year old Dasiel Gonzalez-Carpio of Sheldon, was northbound on Highway 60. Deputies say a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 40-year old Corynne Riffey of Sioux City was westbound on 400th Street. Authorities say Riffey failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 60 and entered the intersection where the two vehicles collided.

Deputies say Gonzalez-Carpio and a passenger were both transported to the Orange City Hospital by the Hospers Ambulance. Riffey reportedly declined medical attention.

Sioux County authorities say further investigation caused deputies to suspect Riffey was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Authorities say Riffey was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, no motor vehicle insurance, and failure to obey a stop sign.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Orange City Police Department, Hospers Fire Department and Hospers Ambulance.
