rock valley police badgeRock Valley, Iowa — A Centerville, South Dakota man faces felony theft charges following the investigation into an incident earlier this week at a Rock Valley vehicle dealership.

According to Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warbutron, sometime during the overnight hours of Sunday into Monday, someone removed and made off with the rims and wheels from a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck that was sitting at Hi-Way Chevrolet in Rock Valley.  Warburton says the theft was reported Monday morning.

The Chief says a multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of 32-year old Timothy Wellenstein of Centerville, South Dakota.  Wellenstein was reportedly charged with Theft in the 2nd Degree, which is a Class D Felony.

Warburton says the stolen wheels and rims were recovered during the course of the investigation, and were returned to the vehicle dealership.

Rock Valley Police were assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Turner County, South Dakota Sheriff’s Office.

Wellenstein was taken to the Sioux County Jail in Orange City before being released on bond.
