Three Sent To Hospitals After SUV & Straight Truck Collide

Ireton, Iowa — Three people were taken to area hospitals in the aftermath of a collision between an SUV and a straight truck north of Ireton Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, a 2017 Toyota Rav4, driven by 70-year old Vicki Hodgson of Ireton, was westbound on 420th Street. Deputies say Hodgson failed to stop for the stop sign at Eagle Avenue, entered the intersection, and struck a northbound 1995 Freightliner straight truck, driven by 60-year old William Schlichte, of Le Mars. Authorities say the Freightliner came to rest on its side in the intersection.

Schlichte was transported by private vehicle to the Sioux Center Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies estimate damage to the Toyota at approximately $15-thousand, while the Freightliner sustained an estimated $20-thousand in damage.
