Three Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — Three people were taken to hospitals after an accident on Saturday, June 20.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 4:25 PM, 25-year-old Taylor Klemme of Sioux Center was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 eastbound on 400th Street (or B40), approaching the intersection of Ibex Avenue, two miles east of Sioux Center. They say 23-year-old Ryan Okane of Maple Grove, MN was driving a 1997 Honda Civic westbound on 400th Street and was slowing down to make a left turn onto Ibex Avenue. The report says 26-year-old Kelsey Felt, also of Maple Grove was driving a 2012 Hyundai SGL westbound behind Okane.

According to the report, Okane began turning and was struck by the Klemme vehicle. The impact pushed the Okane vehicle backward, which struck the Felt vehicle.

The Orange City Ambulance took Okane and a seven-year-old passenger to the Sioux Center Hospital. A passenger in Felt’s vehicle, 24-year-old Rachel Okane of Maple Grove was transported by private vehicle to the Sioux Center Hospital.

Ryan Okane was cited for failure to yield on making a left turn.

The vehicles sustained about $10,000 in damages, each.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux County Conservation office, Sioux Center Fire Department, and crews from the Sioux Center Ambulance and Orange City Ambulance teams assisted them on the scene.
