Three Taken To Hospitals After Accident

Maurice, Iowa — Two people from Orange City and one from Viborg, SD were taken to hospitals after an accident on Tuesday afternoon at the “Million Dollar Corner.”

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that 78-year-old Jimmy Schwiesow of Orange City was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion eastbound Highway 10. The report says he stopped for the stop sign at Highway 75, two miles north of Maurice. The report says 29-year-old Alexander Koltze of Viborg, SD was driving a 1999 Ford F‐150 pickup northbound on Highway 75. It says Schwiesow drove eastbound into the intersection and struck Koltze.

The Orange City Ambulance took Schwiesow and a passenger, 81-year-old Ingrid Schwiesow of Orange City to the Orange City Health System Hospital. The Sioux Center Ambulance crew took Koltze to the Sioux Center Health Hospital.

According to the deputy’s report, the Fusion sustained about $20,000 in damage. The F‐150 sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Schwiesow was cited on a charge of failure to yield from a stop sign.

The Sheriff’s Office reports the Maurice Fire Department, Maurice Rescue squad, the Orange City Ambulance crew,
the Sioux Center Ambulance crew and Sioux Center Police Department assisted them.
