Two Arrested For Felonies

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookOrange City, Iowa — A pair of individuals were jailed in the Sioux County Jail on felony charges in separate incident this week.

Sioux County authorities say the charges against 21-year old Fidel Chilel-Chavez of Sioux Center stem from a traffic stop conducted by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper Monday.  According to authorities, during the stop, the trooper discovered that Chilel-Chavez had allegedly used another person’s name to gain employment.  Chilel-Chavez faces charges of 2nd Degree Fraudulent Practices, a Class D Felony, Falsifying an ID Card, a Serious Misdemeanor, as well as Excessive Speed, Driving Without a License and No Proof of Insurance.  He was transported to the Sioux County Jail.

On Tuesday, Sioux County Deputies arrested 38-year old Eduardo Santana at his residence in Sibley in connection with an Identity Theft Complaint.  Deputies say Santana used someone else’s identity to secure employment in Sioux County.  Santana faces two counts of Identity Theft, each of which is a Class D Felony.  He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bond.
