Sheldon, Iowa — On Sunday, February 11th, at 4:15 p.m., The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was called to a snowmobile accident that occurred at 4421 320th Street, three miles west of Sheldon.

According to authorities, the crash happened when a 1996 Yamaha XT600 snowmobile, driven by an 11-year old Sioux Falls girl, was northbound on the property, when she accelerated the machine instead of braking, and struck a roll-off dumpster. Deputies say the driver, along with her 16-year old female passenger, were ejected from the snowmobile.
