Two Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Carnes

Carnes, Iowa — Two people were taken to a hospital after an accident near Carnes on Highway 60 on Monday, June 27th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11:47 AM, 43-year-old Amina Badasso of Sioux Falls, SD was driving a 2003 Honda Accord southbound on Highway 60 in the right lane, four miles south of Orange City. They report that 58-year-old Richard Grosvenor of Ponca, NE was driving a 2014 International Prostar semi‐truck pulling a trailer southbound on Highway 60 in the left lane following Badasso.

The officer reports that Badasso abruptly drove into the left lane before attempting to turn onto 500th Street and was struck by Grosvenor.

The Orange City Ambulance took two passengers in the Badasso Honda to the Orange City Health System Hospital.

The Honda sustained approximately $7,000 in damage. The International semi sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage.

Badasso was cited on a charge of improper use of lanes.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Orange City Ambulance crew and Orange City Fire Department assisted them.
