Date posted - September 19, 2016

Spencer, Iowa — Court appearances have been pushed back again in the case of the Milford man accused of the Armedgavel_sxc Robbery of Barb’s Corner near Everly back in March.

According to court records, 40-year old Joshua Emerson Mandelkow now faces his next date in court on Tuesday, November 15th. His jury trial is scheduled at this point for Tuesday, December 6th in Clay County District Court. Mandelkow waived his right to a speedy trial in August.

Clay County authorities accuse Mandelkow of robbing Barb’s Corner while armed with a shotgun. Deputies made contact with a suspect vehicle about 15 minutes later, leading to contact with Mandelkow.

Deputies say that, after leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Dickinson County, Mandelkow reportedly turned his shotgun on himself as they approached his vehicle.

He was taken to a Spirit Lake hospital before being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN for treatment of his injuries. When he had recovered, Clay County authorities filed charges of First Degree Robbery, Going Armed With Intent, and Intimidation With A Dangerous Weapon.
