We had a chance to talk with Skyler Wheeler, the area’s newest legislator. Wheeler defeated challengers Kevin Van Otterloo and Jeff Vander Werff in the primary and defeated Vander Werff again in the general election in November to become the District 4 State Representative-elect. District 4 covers most of Sioux County.

Wheeler tells us he has several priorities for his first year.

He says they do have a hurdle to jump, however.

Wheeler says he’s working on writing a number of bills.

Wheeler says he’s excited to be starting in a session in which the Governor’s office, the House, and the Senate are all controlled by Republicans.

Wheeler’s constituents can call him at 712-441-7444. He also has a Facebook page and a web site.
