Orange City Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Orange City.Orange City Ambulance OC

The Orange City Police Department reports that about 9:00 AM, 17-year-old April Vande Brake of Orange City was northbound on Prairie View Lane Northeast in Orange City in a 2012 Jeep SUV. Sixteen-year-old Trevor Scholtens of Orange City was eastbound on Seventh Street Northeast in a 2000 Ford SUV.

Vande Brake was attempting a left turn onto Seventh Street Northeast. The report says she failed to yield for traffic and pulled out in front of Scholtens. Scholtens’ Ford struck Vande Brake’s Jeep in the back driver’s side door.

Vande Brake was transported to Orange City Area Health System Hospital by Orange City Ambulance.

Vande Brake’s Jeep SUV received $8000 damage. Scholtens’s Ford SUV received $5000 in damage, which was enough to total the vehicle.

Vande Brake was charged with Unsafe Entry Onto Roadway.
