Hull Teen Airlifted To Sioux Falls Hospital After Accident Near Inwood

Inwood, Iowa — A Hull teen was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital and his passenger was taken to a hospital via ground ambulance after an accident east of Inwood on Tuesday morning, August 26th.Sanford Air Med 9

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:45 AM, a┬áNetherlands Reformed Christian School bus, driven by 35-year-old Karena Van Der Weide, was stopped at a home at 1983 240th Street when it was rear-ended by a 2010 Chevy Impala driven by 16-year-old Tyler Niemeyer of Hull.

No one on the bus reported any injuries at the scene. Niemeyer was transported to the Canton-Inwood Hospital. His passenger, 14-year-old Caleb Niemeyer, was air-lifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Damage to the bus was estimated at $5000 and damage to the Impala was estimated at $15,000.

The Inwood Fire Department, Inwood Rescue, Lyon County deputies, Iowa State Patrol troopers, and the Canton-Inwood Ambulance responded to the scene. Helicopters from both Sanford and Avera McKennan were also called to the scene.

At last report, we were told that the boys are both in stable condition.
