Outbuilding Sustains Extensive Damage In Fire

Archer, Iowa — An outbuilding was extensively damaged in a fire on Friday, June 23, 2017 near Archer.

According to Archer Fire Chief Don De Boer, about 3:10 PM, the Archer Fire Department was called to the report of an outbuilding on fire at 5491 400th Street, about three miles south and two east of Archer, on a place owned by Gary Stangeland.

The chief says the fire department saw the storage and shop building engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

De Boer says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but it may have been electrical in nature.

Chief De Boer reports that there was extensive damage as about half of the building was destroyed.

He says they used about 2500 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about three hours.
