Absentee Ballots Available For Sioux Center School Bond Election

Sioux Center, Iowa — Sioux Center Community School District officials tell us that they are in need of more space. A bond issue vote for money to build a new high school is coming up on February 5th.

The Sioux County Auditor’s office reports that absentee ballots are available for those voters who plan to be absent for the upcoming Special Sioux Center School Election to be held on February 5, 2019, or who just want to vote early. They tell us that a qualified voter may come to the Auditor’s Office in Orange City to personally cast his or her vote. This may be done up through 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019. For absentee voting purposes, the Auditor’s Office will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The auditor’s office says that a qualified voter may also request an absentee ballot in writing but it must be on an Iowa Official Absentee request form. A link to this form is available at http://siouxcounty.org/election-information/. Then use the Absentee Voting link. Each voter must use a separate form.

They tell us that the deadline to request a ballot to be mailed is 5:00 p.m., this Friday, January 25, 2019.

All ballots returned through the mail must be postmarked before Election Day. For more information concerning absentee voting, you can call Lisa Rowenhorst at the Sioux County Auditor’s Office at (712)-737-2216.

The text of the question to be put to voters reads, “Shall the Board of Directors of the Sioux Center Community School District in the County of Sioux, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $24,900,000 to provide funds to build, furnish and equip a new High School building and to acquire and improve the site?”
