Accident Near Le Mars Claims Life Of Sergeant Bluff Man

Le Mars, Iowa — Authorities have now released the name of the man who was killed in the accident near Le Mars early Tuesday morning.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:20 AM, they received a 911 call about a vehicle in the ditch along Highway 75, just south of the NIPCO intersection.

When Plymouth County Deputies got there, they found the victim, 36-year-old Scott Charles Jacobsen of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, was still in the vehicle and had life-threatening injuries. They called for an ambulance and the fire department.

The investigation indicates that the vehicle was northbound on Highway 75 and as it approached the curve, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it entered the east ditch, where it rolled several times. The vehicle was a 2009 Toyota Camry.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was transported to Floyd Valley Hospital for further examination by Dr. Holcomb, Plymouth County Medical Examiner.

The investigation continues.

The Le Mars Ambulance and Fire Department assisted at the scene.
