Alvord Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Rock Valley

lyon co ambulance sideDoon, Iowa — An Alvord woman was taken to a hospital after an accident on Friday night in far southern Lyon County, between Doon and Rock Valley.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:40 PM, 20-year-old Megan Bouwman of Alvord was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty southbound on K30, about a mile south of 260th Street, about three miles southwest of Doon, or about three miles due north of Rock Valley, near the county line.

The Sheriff’s Office says that due to the 100% ice-covered roads, Bouwman lost control of the vehicle, which started to slide into the northbound lane. It then entered the east ditch where it rolled over a couple of times before coming to rest on its driver’s side.

Bouwman was transported to the hospital. Her injuries were described as non-incapacitating.

The Jeep Liberty sustained about $5,000 in damages and is considered totaled.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Doon Fire and Rescue, Lyon County Ambulance, Sioux County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rock Valley Police Department all responded to the accident.
