Spirit Lake, Iowa — The Sheldon High School Jazz Choir will be one of fourteen jazz choirs from around northwest Iowa that will be taking part in the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival Monday in Spirit Lake.
The event will start at 3:oo o’clock Monday afternoon, and continue through about 9:00 that evening, at the Sami Bedell Center For The Performing Arts, which is located adjacent to the Spirit Lake High School.
Sheldon High School Vocal Director Adam Orban tells KIWA that 10 of his students will be participating, and will perform “Sweet Georgia Brown”, the ballad “Goodbye Love”, and the comedy song “Short People”. The Sheldon vocalists are scheduled to perform at 4:12 Monday afternoon.
The Festival will begin at 3:00 when Okoboji’s jazz choir takes the stage, followed by Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn at 3:24, Sibley-Ocheyedan at 3:48, Sheldon at 4:12, Harris-Lake Park at 4:46, Akron-Westfield #1 at 5:10, Central Lyon at 5:34, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn at 5:58, Kingsley-Pierson at 6:22, Akron-Westfield #2 at 6:46, Spencer #1 at 7:40, Forest City at 8:04, Spirit Lake at 8:28 and Spencer #2 at 8:52.
The public is welcome to attend, with a $5 admission charge for adults, and $3 for students.
