The Spencer Police Department reports that on April 30, 2015, they arrested a 17-year-old boy from Spencer on charges of Terrorism and Arson Threats, which are both Class D felonies. The arrest stems from an investigation into a bomb threat to the Spencer HyVee on April 9th. After their investigation, officers believe that the boy had made the bomb threat while attending the Lakes Partnership School located in Spencer. They believe the boy posted the threat on a chat session with the HyVee customer care center located in West Des Moines.

Officers say the boy was taken into custody and later transported to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee.

The Spencer Police Department reports that the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
