UPDATE: Judge Candidate Pool Reduced To Three

Northwest Iowa — Ten northwest Iowa attorneys were interviewed by the Plymouth and Sioux County Judicial Nominating Commissions on Monday, all seeking to replace District Associate Judge Robert Dull when he retires next month.

Following those interviews and a joint meeting, the list of ten attorneys was reduced to a final nomination list of three practicing attorneys, according to the District Court Administrative Office.

The three nominated for consideration to fill the vacancy are Attorney Amy Oetken of Le Mars, Attorney Kristal L. Phillips of Holstein and Attorney Dan Vakulskas of Sioux City. An attorney from Orange City, and another from Sioux Center were among the original ten applicants, but didn’t make it to the final list of three.

The attorney who replaces Judge Dull will serve Judicial Sub-District 3B, which consists of Crawford, Ida, Monona, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury Counties.   Interviews of the three nominees will be held this Friday, November 30th, by the 3B District Court Judges.
