Akron, Iowa — Autopsy results are back on an Akron man, and although his body and his wife’s were found at the same time, the autopsy results say she died of blunt force trauma, but he died of natural causes.
On July 9, 2014 the bodies of Donald & Esther Neunaber were discovered by family members at their home in rural Akron.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office says autopsy reports received a few days later concluded that Esther Neunaber died from blunt force trauma and the state medical examiner ruled the death as homicide. Consequently, Jonathon Neunaber was charged with Murder in the 1st Degree and is being held in the Plymouth County Correctional Facility on a $100,000 bond.
The Sheriff’s Office says autopsy results for Donald Neunaber are now in, and the state medical examiner has determined that the manner of his death was due to natural causes.
The Plymouth County Sheriff, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Plymouth County Attorney’s Office are working cooperatively to investigate the case.
