Bancroft Man Taken To Hospital After Hospers Accident

A Bancroft man was taken to the hospital after an accident last Tuesday (2/28) near Hospers.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 7:40 AM, 57-year-old Larry Howard Black of Guthrie Center was westbound on B40,near Hospers in a 2007 Volvo semi. Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Becker of Bancroft was northbound on Highway 60 in a 1997 Ford pickup.

The semi attempted to stop for the stop sign at Highway 60 and slid through the intersection due to ice on the roadway. Becker applied his brakes but was unable to stop. The pickup collided with the back duals of the semi in the intersection.

Becker was transported to Sanford Sheldon by personal vehicle.

Black’s Volvo semi received $100 damage. Becker’s Ford pickup received $10,000 damage.
