Bank Fraud Attempts Not Limited To Sioux County

Northwest Iowa — Earlier we told you that authorities were looking for a man who allegedly attempted to defraud a pair of banks in Sioux County.  Now we know how he did it, and we know that the activity wasn’t confined to Sioux County banks.

Le Mars Police Sergeant Jay King says the suspect used the same tactics at each stop, including at the banks in Alton and Granville, as well as Kingsley State Bank in LeMars.

Police are circulating a photo of the man, which can be seen at right.

Earlier reports had identified the car as a white Chevrolet Lumina, so it’s not completely clear which vehicle description is correct.

It appears this is the same suspect who tried the scam at two Sioux County banks — in Granville and Alton — and later at a bank in Sioux City. Officials would not say how much money was involved.
