Barn, Contents Destroyed In Blaze

Boyden, Iowa — A barn near Boyden and its contents were destroyed in a fire fought by four fire departments on Sunday.

Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg reports they were called out about 12:30 PM to a report of a barn on fire at 3420 Kennedy Avenue, two and a quarter miles south of Boyden.

When they got there, he says they found the entire west half of the barn was on fire.

He says the barn and contents were a total loss with an estimated value of $10,000.

No injuries were reported.

According to Starkenburg, he and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office are continuing their investigation at this time.

Starkenburg reports that fire departments from Hull, Matlock and Sheldon as well as the Boyden Ambulance crew and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted them.
