Blood Mobile To Collect Donations In Rock Rapids Wednesday

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Blood donors are needed in Rock Rapids this Wednesday, January 17th. The Community Blood Bank is hosting a blood drive at Central Lyon High School. And it’s not just for students and school personnel, it’s open to the public.

Rita Nelson, spokesperson for the Community Blood Bank tells us about the drive.

While the Rock Rapids blood drive is this Wednesday, the blood drives in Sibley — at the Osceola Community Hospital — are planned for next week, on January 24th and January 26th.

She tells us about the requirements for donating blood.

A parent consent form can be downloaded from cbblifeblood.org. You are also asked to bring an ID when you come to donate. It is recommended to eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood. For more information or to make an appointment at the Rock Rapids drive, please call 712-472-4051. Walk-ins are welcome.

Nelson says the Community Blood Bank uses about 500 units of blood every week in the area, so your support is always needed.

The blood drive in Rock Rapids is this Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Community Blood Bank reminds us that they are the sole provider of blood and blood products to 34 area hospitals, including almost all hospitals in this area, and that they are independent and are not affiliated with any other blood bank organizations.
