The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:50 PM, 27-year-old Logan Rus of Sioux Center was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup pulling a trailer eastbound on 400th Street, about a mile east of Sioux Center. They say 34-year-old Sarah Vander Plaats of Orange City was driving a 2006 Pontiac Torrent eastbound on 400th Street following Rus. The Sioux Center Ambulance took a passenger in the Rus pickup, 18-year-old Justin Schmidt of Boyden to the Sioux Center Hospital.

The pickup and trailer sustained about $6,000 in damages. The Pontiac sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages.

Vander Plaats was cited on a charge of following too closely.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Sioux Center Ambulance crew and Sioux Center Police Department assisted them on the scene.
