Car-Deer Accident Near Doon Damages Doon Man’s Car

deer portrait iowa dnrDoon, Iowa — A car-deer accident damaged a car driven by a Doon man on Wednesday (1/23/13).

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:25 AM, they received a 911 call of an accident near Grant Avenue and 260th Street involving a vehicle striking a deer.

Sixty-six-year-old James Hoogendoorn of Doon was driving his 2009 Chevy Impala traveling west on A52, two miles east of Doon, when a deer attempted to run across the road. Hoogendoorn struck the deer.

Hoogendoorn’s Chevy received about $4000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
