Car Versus Steer Accident Near Alvord Damages Rock Rapids Man’s Pickup, Kills Steer

Rural Alvord, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department investigated a one-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday December 1, 2012 at about 5:35 AM.

Patrick McCarty, age 53, from rural Rock Rapids was driving a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup westbound on county road A-26 near Fig Avenue (about three miles east of the West Lyon School), when he struck a steer on the roadway.

The steer, owned by JRT Focus Farms of rural Rock Rapids, was killed resulting in a $1500 loss. The 2002 Ford received approximately $4000 in damage.

No injuries were reported, except to the steer.
