Family Takes Woman To Hospital After Accident

George, Iowa — A George woman was taken to a hospital after a recent accident.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that 79-year-old Lowell Platter of Graettinger was driving a 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup eastbound on 210th Street, about three miles west of George. They report he crossed over the center line and struck a westbound 1999 Chevy C25 pickup driven by 42-year-old Julia Steenhoven of George.

Steenhoven was taken to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids by family members. The report says she sustained non-life threatening injuries, while Platter and his passenger reported no injuries.

Both vehicles were estimated to be totaled.

Platter was cited on a charge of Driving on wrong side of a two-way highway.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the George Emergency Medical Service, George Fire Department, and Lyon County Ambulance crew assisted with this accident.
