Hit And Run Outside Of Sheldon

sheldon police pd car door logoSheldon, Iowa — A Hartley man and a Hospers man’s vehicles were damaged in an accident at the outskirts of Sheldon on Monday, March 3rd.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that just before 9:15 AM on the 3rd 80-year-old Eldon Menke of Hartley was westbound on Highway 18 in Sheldon in a 2010 Ford SUV. Thirty-nine-year-old Jerad Vander Zwaag of Hospers was eastbound on Highway 18 in a 2013 Dodge van. Menke made a left turn from Highway 18 onto the Highway 60 southbound ramp, struck Vander Zwaag, then left the scene and drove to Hospers, with Vander Zwaag and witnesses following. Menke stated that he had to get to a dialysis treatment.

Menke’s Ford received $5000 damage. Vander Zwaag’s Dodge received $6000 damage.

There were no injuries reported
