Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookSioux County, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was busy over the first two days of the New Year. An Alton teen’s vehicle was damaged in an accident near Orange City on Monday, January 2nd.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:30 pm on Monday, 16-year-old Christian Rodriguez of Alton was driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Jackson Avenue, one-half mile north of Orange City. According to the report, Rodriguez lost control of his vehicle, crossed the northbound lane, entered the east ditch, struck a utility pole, struck a tree and a fence.

The Pontiac received $8,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

An Orange City man and a Hawarden woman both escaped injury colliding at the Million Dollar Corner on Monday, January 2nd.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:10 pm on Monday, 23-year-old Elaina Arreola of Hawarden was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on Highway 10, two miles north of Maurice. Forty-year-old Jonathon De Groot of Orange City was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on Highway 10. The report continues that both vehicles stopped for the stop signs at Highway 75. Arreola began turning left onto Highway 75 as De Groot proceeded westbound on Highway 10 and De Groot struck Arreola in the intersection.

The Trailblazer received $4000 damage; the Tahoe received $6000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

An Inwood man struck a deer on Sunday night near Rock Valley.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 9:30 pm on Sunday, 49-year-old Robert Kelderman of Inwood was driving a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country northbound on Buchanan Avenue, 10 miles northwest of Rock Valley. According to the report, Kelderman struck a deer on the roadway.

The Chrysler received $2000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

A Doon man’s and a Spencer man’s vehicles collided at an intersection in Hull on Sunday, January 1st.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 6:50 pm on Sunday, 18-year-old Mark Maassen of Doon was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Okey Street in Hull. Thirty-one-year-old Jesse Dammann of Spencer was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 westbound on Highway 18. According to the report, Maassen failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 18 and struck Dammann in the intersection.

The Pontiac received $4000 damage. The Silverado received $5000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
