The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 4:30 PM, they received a call from a motorist reporting that a vehicle was driving in a bean field along Hickory Avenue. A short time later deputies located a 1993 Chevrolet pickup, which had been driven by 64-year-old Charles Emery of Hull.

According to their investigation, Sheriff’s deputies report that Emery had been driving the vehicle northbound on Hickory Avenue, about a mile and a half south of Hull, when he lost control of it. It came to rest in a grove near a farm home.

A Sioux County Deputy attempted life saving measures on Emery who was transported by the Hull Ambulance to the Sioux Center Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital by the Sioux County Medical Examiner. According to Captain Jamison Van Voorst of the Sheriff’s Office, the incident appears at this time to have been medically-related prior to Emery’s losing control of the vehicle — but authorities are attempting to confirm what happened.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $100 in damages.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Hull Ambulance crew assisted them.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
