Man Steals Stop Sign, Arrested

sioux county sheriff emblemSheldon, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Emmetsburg man on Monday, September 21st in Sheldon.

According to the report, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint earlier from a Hospers resident that they had witnessed occupants of a black Ford pickup steal a stop sign at the intersection of Fir Street and 6th Avenue South in Hospers. Upon investigation, the black Ford was located in Sheldon, stopped by the Sheldon Police Department, and the stolen stop sign was located in the possession of 20-year-old Cedric Henkelvig of Emmetsburg.

Henkelvig was arrested for theft, possession of a traffic control device, and was cited for underage possession of alcohol by the Sheldon Police Department.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sheldon Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
