Man Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sibley, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man was taken to the hospital after an accident recently near Sibley.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s office reports about 5:50 PM on January 28th, 85-year-old Cornelius Wolterstorff of Ocheyedan was driving a 2002 Buick Park Avenue northbound on Highway 60 near Sibley. They report that 31-year-old Timothy Ryan Cook of Sheldon was driving a 2014 Peterbilt semi, registered to AD trucking of Hull northbound on Highway 60 behind the Wolterstorff vehicle.

The semi rear-ended the Wolterstorff vehicle according to the sheriff’s office. They say the impact caused the Wolterstorff vehicle to skid out of control before coming to rest in the east ditch on Highway 60.

The Sibley Ambulance crew took Wolterstorff to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Cook did not report any injuries.

Wolterstorff’s vehicle received about $8,500 in damage, and the semi Cooke was driving received about $4,000 in damages.

Cook was cited on a charge of failure to maintain control.

The Sheriff’s Office reports the Sibley Fire Department also assisted on the scene.
