Man Taken To Hospital After Truck Crash Near Sanborn

Sanborn AmbulanceSanborn, Iowa — A Clarion, Iowa man was transported to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center following a 2-truck crash near Sanborn Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened about 2:15 pm Tuesday when a 1997 International Dump Truck, driven by 36-year old Joshua Biery of Paullina was westbound on Highway 18.  Troopers say Biery attempted to make a left turn across traffic onto Polk Avenue, when the dump truck was struck from behind by a westbound 2007 GMC truck, driven by 53-year old Kevin Lehman of Clarion.

Troopers say Lehman was extricated from the vehicle, and taken to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sanborn Ambulance, with what troopers describe as suspected non-incapacitating injuries.

Damage to Biery’s dump truck was estimated at about $500, while Lehman’s GMC truck was totaled in the crash.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.

Incidentally, law enforcement officers confirm that the dump truck and its driver in this accident (Joshua Biery) were also involved in a separate accident earlier that afternoon. Find that report here.
