Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen who was arrested and was later allegedly found with a controlled substance in jail now faces a felony charge.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, May 27, at about 7:35 PM, their deputies arrested 18-year-old Jenna Meines of Orange City. They say the arrest stemmed from a report of a disturbance that occurred at home in Granville.
Upon further investigation, the report says deputies allegedly discovered that Meines was in possession of a controlled substance.
When Meines was arrested and brought to the jail, the Sheriff’s report says an additional amount of a controlled substance was found in her possession.
Meines had been arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and she was further charged with possession of contraband in a correctional institute, which is a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison and a fine of between $750 and $7500.
