Police Investigate Apparent Theft From Godfather’s Pizza

sheldon police pd car door logoSheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police are investigating an apparent theft from a Sheldon restaurant.

According to Sheldon Chief Lyle Bolkema, the incident occurred Tuesday night, January 31st, when a Supervisor at Godfather’s Pizza in Sheldon reportedly closed the business, and left carrying the night deposit bag.  Bolkema says the supervisor was supposed to deliver the bag to the bank drop box, but failed to do so.

Bolkema declined to divulge the amount of money missing in the incident, but the Police Department’s Incident Report says the amount was large enough to warrant classifying the incident as a 2nd Degree Theft.  To qualify as 2nd Degree Theft, the Iowa Code lists the dollar amount involved as more than $1-thousand, but less than $10-thousand, and the Iowa Code says 2nd Degree Theft is a Class D Felony crime.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, Bolkema says no arrests have been made, and the incident remains under investigation.
