Primghar Woman Leads Clay Deputies On Chase

Police lightbar chaseClay County, Iowa — A Primghar woman was jailed in Clay County following a car chase early Wednesday.

Clay County authorities say one of their deputies attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1000 mile of 350th Street in rural Clay County early Wednesday.   Deputies say the vehicle turned south onto 100th Avenue and failed to yield to the Deputy’s emergency lights. As the driver continued southbound, the Deputy activated his siren but the driver allegedly continued to be non-compliant, turning west into O’Brien County on 360th Street. The pursuit continued for approximately 11 miles in O’Brien County and ended when a tire deflation device was deployed by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the driver, 28-year old Madison Selzer, of Primghar, was placed under arrest and taken into custody without further incident. Selzer was allegedly found to have a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on an active Clay County arrest warrant, according to authorities.

Selzer was transported to the Clay County Jail charged with eluding, a serious misdemeanor; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving under suspension, no insurance and no license plate light, all simple misdemeanors. Selzer was held to appear before the Magistrate on the traffic violations and is being held in the Clay County jail to serve a 10-day jail sentence. This incident remains under investigation and Selzer faces additional traffic charges in O’ Brien County, according to authorities.
