Rock Rapids Man Arrested In Hull For Writing Checks On Closed Account

Date posted - March 18, 2012

A Rock Rapids man has been arrested after he was found writing checks on a closed account in Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old Jonathan Vahl of Rock Rapids on Friday evening for theft in the 4th degree, a serious misdemeanor and theft in the 5th degree, a simple misdemeanor.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office had previously received complaints from two Hull businesses that Vahl had allegedly written checks on a closed account. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that there was an outstanding warrant for Vahl for allegedly writing checks on the closed account at businesses in Rock Valley.

On Friday, March 16, Vahl attempted to write additional checks at a third Hull business using the same closed checking account. The business notified the Sheriff’s Office and Vahl was arrested at the business.
