Rock Valley Woman Sentenced For Felony Theft

Heather BloemendaalRock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman received a 10-year suspended prison sentence after accepting a plea agreement on a charge of Theft in the First Degree.

Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle says that 38-year old Heather June Bloemendaal, was sentenced in Sioux County District Court.   Kunstle says the case arose in July of 2015 when her employer, Stone Soup Café in Rock Valley, noticed that the daily deposits were not appearing in their business bank account.  He says further investigation by the Rock Valley Police Department revealed that Bloemendaal had committed theft in the first degree by taking more than $19-thousand between January and July of last year.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Bloemendaal was sentenced to ten years suspended prison on the felony theft charge, placed on probation for four years, is required to reside at the Residential Treatment Facility in Sioux City, and ordered to pay full restitution, according to Kunstle.
