Sheldon Emergency Personnel Respond To Accident

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sheldon man’s car and a Ashton woman’s minivan were damaged in a crash on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 6:45 p.m., 64-year-old Daniel Hall of Sheldon was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile westbound on Highway 18 at Sheldon Crossing. They report that 41-year-old Daniela Martens of Ashton was southbound on Runger Avenue in a 2002 Chrysler minivan.

The report says that the Hall Olds struck the Martens minivan, which was turning left onto Highway 18 to travel east.

Hall’s Oldsmobile sustained $2500 in damages, and Martens’s Chrysler minivan sustained $3500 in damages. Both cars were driven away from the scene.

Martens was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, Sheldon Fire Company, and Sheldon Emergency Management personnel assisted at the scene.

The accident at what is called “Sheldon Crossing” happened about 6:45 PM. The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, Sheldon Fire Company, Sheldon Emergency Management, and law enforcement were at the scene.
