Sheldon Man Taken To Hospital After Accident

Hospers, Iowa — A Sheldon man was taken to a hospital after an accident near Hospers on Highway 60 on Thursday, July 16th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11:35 AM, 72-year-old James Kray of Boyden was driving a 2007 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a tank trailer southbound on Hospers Drive South. They report 22-year-old Matthew Youngers of Sheldon was driving a 1989 International straight truck southbound on Highway 60.

According to the report, Kray attempted a right turn, onto Highway 60, and his truck was struck by Youngers’ truck. After the accident the Youngers International straight truck entered the west ditch and rolled onto its side.

The Hospers Ambulance transported Youngers to the Orange City Health System Hospital.

The International sustained about $20,000 in damages. The Freightliner was not damaged.

Kray was cited on a charge of failing to yield from a stop sign.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Iowa State Patrol, Hospers Fire Department and Hospers Ambulance crew assisted them on the scene.
