Sheldon Police Report Several Arrests and Three Accidents

The police arrested 36-year-old Mark McGregor at the RTF in Sheldon on March 8. He was charged with simple assault.


They also arrested 34-year-old Wesley Swanson at the RTF that day, also for simple assault. Both were transported to jail in Primghar.


The police took a report of disorderly conduct happening at 405 Pine Street on Saturday, March 10th. They investigated and cited 28-year-old Martin Orcutt Jr. of Sheldon the next day.


Someone from Sheldon reported a purse stolen in Sioux City. The police cited 55-year-old Hope Paez-Hernandez in connection with the crime. She was charged with possession of stolen property and Obstruction of Justice and was cited into court.


The police arrested 34-year-old Wesley Swanson again on Saturday, March 10th on a warrant.


A Pocahontas man’s van and a Sheldon woman’s SUV were damaged in an accident on March 13th in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 1:05 PM, 57-year-old Adron Reese of Pocahontas was westbound on Highway 18, in a 2009 Ford van. Thirty-five-year-old Angela Locke of Sheldon was also westbound on 18 in a 2012 Lincoln Navigator.

Reese was in the inside lane, and Locke in the outside lane. Reese was starting to change lanes to get to the outside lane, when he struck the Locke Lincoln. The Lincoln then went over the curb and went 120 more feet before stopping just a foot in front of the Oldenkamp Detail building.

Reese’s Ford received $2000 damage. Locke’s Lincoln received $3500 damage.

There were no injuries.


The police arrested 18-year-old Ashley Seeley of Sheldon on Thursday the 15th on public intoxication and trespassing charges.


On Friday, they arrested 33-year-old Scott Adair on an RTF Hold Order.


On Sunday, they arrested 33-year-old Kelly Gilbert of Sanborn on Third Offense OWI.


All three were transported to the O’Brien County Jail.


A Sheldon man’s minivan and a Sheldon woman’s car were damaged in an accident on Sunday in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 12:30 PM, 67-year-old Ralph Martin Jr. of Sheldon was westbound on Highway 18, in a 2005 Dodge minivan. Eighty-year-old Darlene Schwarz of Sheldon was also westbound on 18 in a 1989 Oldsmobile.

The light at Nineteenth Avenue had just turned to yellow. Martin stopped and his minivan was rear-ended by Schwarz, who was unable to stop in time.

Martin’s Dodge minivan received $1500 damage. Schwarz’s Oldsmobile received $1000 damage.

There were no injuries.

Schwarz was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control.


A Sioux Center woman’s car and a Hartley man’s van were damaged in an accident on Tuesday, March 20th in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 5:15 PM, 22-year-old Yeabsira Doornink of Sioux Center was westbound on Sixth Street, in a 2003 Chevy. Thirty-one-year-old David Andringa of Hartley was northbound on Third Avenue in a 2003 Ford van.

The police report says Doornink failed to yield and was struck by the Andringa vehicle.

Doornink’s Chevy received $10,000 damage. Andringa’s Ford van received $2500 damage.
