Sutherland Man Faces Felony Criminal Mischief Charge

handcuffs - subject inSutherland, Iowa — A Sutherland man faces felony charges following a disagreement with his housemate.

Authorities say 39-year old Christopher David Wheeler, of Sutherland, got into a verbal disagreement with his housemate, then went outside, got into his car, and drove it into his housemate’s car before breaking two windows out of the housemate’s vehicle.

Wheeler was arrested, and faces a charge of 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, which is a Class “D” Felony.  According to the Code of Iowa, a Criminal Mischief charge is 2nd Degree when there is more than $1-thousand, but less than $10-thousand in property damage involved in the incident.  Class “D” Felonies are punishable, upon conviction, by a prison term of up to 5-years.
