Three Injured in Accident

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookOrange City, Iowa — A Paullina man and two children from South Dakota were injured in an accident near Orange City on Sunday, February 7th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 2:45 pm on Sunday, 49-year-old Phillip Schurke of Paullina was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus northbound on Jackson Avenue, four miles north of Orange City. According to the report, Schurke lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and struck a 2010 GMC Yukon, owned by Chad Vander Veen, of Orange City, that was already stranded in the ditch. No one was in the GMC at the time of the accident.

The Ford received $4000 damage; the GMC received $5000 damage.

Schurke and two passengers, 8-year-old Lily Schurke, and eight-year-old Shane Schurke, both of Parker, South Dakota reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on their own.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orange City Fire Department and Orange City Ambulance.
