According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened shortly before 4:00 pm Saturday at the intersection of Highway 60 and Log Avenue, a mile southeast of Hospers.  Deputies say 75-year old Donald Klein, of Marion, Iowa, was driving a 2005 Toyota Avalon westbound on Log Avenue and pulled onto Highway 60, into the path of a northbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 17-year old Austin De Boer of Orange City.

De Boer and a passenger, 18-year old Kristi Renken of Sheldon, were transported by Hospers Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

De Boer’s Chevy pickup, and Klein’s Toyota each received an estimated $10,000 damage.

Deputies say Klein was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance, and Iowa State Patrol.
