Rock Valley, Iowa — Two vehicles were damaged in a collision near Rock Valley on Tuesday, January 31st.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 2:30 pm on Tuesday, 80-year-old John Van Beek of Rock Valley was driving a 2001 GMC Sonoma westbound on Highway 18, seven miles west of Rock Valley. Seventy-eight-year-old David Vander Hamm of Remsen was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 18, behind Van Beek. According to the report, Vander Hamm began passing as Van Beek began turning left onto Cleveland Avenue and struck Van Beek in the intersection.
The GMC received $4,000 damage, the Chevrolet received $3,000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
