Vehicle Leaves Highway 9, Damages Fence, Leaves Scene Near Rock Rapids

Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department investigated a one-vehicle hit and run accident which occurred on Sunday February 10th, 2013 in the 2800 mile of Highway 9, or two miles west of Rock Rapids.
An unknown vehicle was traveling east on Highway 9 around 4:00 PM, when it entered the south ditch and went through a field fence. The vehicle then continued to travel through the field and exited back onto Highway 9 using a farm drive. Due to parts left at the scene, the vehicle is believed to be blue metallic in color, or at least have a blue metallic colored bumper, with damage to either the front or rear bumper.
The fence, owned by Jerry Caswell, of Rock Rapids received approximately $75.00 in damages.
